dave shokh

sometime in the summer of 1987, in the german town of heilbronn, a little boy sits in his room, recording all his favourite songs that he hears on his brand-new radio-tape deck. when the tape is full, he plays it at maximum volume, presenting it to all his friends and relatives. however, not everyone likes his style so unfortunately all his early mix compilations go unnoticed.. some 17 years later in the summer of 2004, city of berlin's arena club: the same guy is facing a crowd of 4000 people, still playing his favourite music, but this time it's his own, and people just love it. dave is very pleased.  a lot of things are happening for him.

dave moved from stuttgart to the city of berlin to be with his buddies from kiddaz.fm and to dedicate all his time and energy strictly to music. since then he's been constantly on the move and busy performing as a dj and live act in japan, poland, and berlin. in particular, his live act with his mates nexsone on the mic and johnny flash (a.k.a. peter kerns) on the fx attracts a great deal of attention. they clearly stand out from the usual one-man-laptop-show delivered by other acts and bring a true live atmosphere to the club. release after release of dave's work is put out by various labels nationwide as well as on an internationally on hidden agenda, tora! tora! tora!, paso music or electric avenue, just to name a few. he produces all his tracks on rising label playmate music, which is the product of dave shokh's and johnny flash's successful collaborate project "davide & pedro" (ex-'tha dons'). last on the agenda for 2005 was the setting up of his own label dipolter on which he mainly supports the new generation. watch out for the premiere of dave's project together with tony rohr called "dirka dirka?"! furthermore there is a project in the works with monika kruse that shows both sides of their deep techno roots. in addition, be on the lookout for the debut album of german house legend dj karotte, also produced by dave. dave is known to cover various styles, but there's always that distinctive dave shokh flavour to everything he does! shokh has his own dj and producing rule: there are no rules. dave calls that shokh'n'roll and everyone knows that he creates one essential set out of electro, minimal and techhouse which is a fine mixture of emotion, funk and soul; no one knows which combination he will use this time to rock the show! one thing is sure though: that he'll give 101% from beginning to end in order to create a perfect time for the party people.

the statement within the name will make sense as soon as you turn on one of holgi stars pumpin, groovy uprfront techno sets. holgi star is deeply rooted in berlins notorious techno culture that has made itself known to everyone by such legendary clubs as planet or tresor.

one of his greatest dancefloor burners of 2001 is probably his remix of schulenburgs "shake your hips, which was produced with the assistance of kiddaz.fms label producer j. breaker, and was featured on numerous compilations both at home and abroad. it also peaked at number 5 in the annual charts of takkyu ishino, causing a run on kiddaz records in japan.

in the spring of 2003, holgi star put out his debut album "starwars” on kiddaz, stirring up a lot of attention both nationally and internationally. the title track of "starwars” even became a ringtone available for download on japanese mobile phones. this is a special honour exclusively granted to tracks that are highly rated and recommended by dj's in japan. thats how holgi star was eventually being invited to play in tokyo at takkyu ishino´s "womb club”, one of the best clubs in japan. in october 2003, he was the first kiddaz artist to be booked on an extensive tour across brazil, where he played 15 gigs in various locations, including são paulo (cicuito, lov.e, mood club), curitiba (vibe club), campinas (kraft club), rio, fortaleza. he cruised across the country with local artists like camilo rocha, dj animal, dj lukas and pet duo. afterwards, holgi met up with pet duo, who in their homeland enjoy a status comparable to that of liebing or väth. in stereo jack’s berlin studio, they produced the pets debut 12 "tierheim”, released on kiddaz.  in april 2004, his second album "hardgrooving sessions" appeared, which was the outcome of his cooperation with stereo jack.
